Nicole Ari Parker has worked on film, television as well as on stage. She was best known for her role as Teri (the vigorous legal) Joseph. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name following her marriage. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her when she was a child and won the Best Actress prize at the Maryland high-school competition. Contractor, who was raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning 7, had traveled across the globe and lived through many cultures as a child. She attended boarding school between the ages of 7 until 9 in London. Later her family relocated in Toronto (Canada) in Canada, where she spent her entire childhood. Contractor achieved academic success at the University of Toronto Toronto while also training as a ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts focused on dance and theater. Contractor was just 16 when she realized that acting was going to be her future career. She had danced for almost 10 year. After graduating high school, Contractor was awarded a scholarship by The University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology. Additionally, she earned an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was offered the lead part in Pericles following a brief time in University. The audition was held for it during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. The play received rave reviews and her performances on the stage in 92 productions. in the production. It was also voted as the best production by Canadian critics in 2002. She was offered the opportunity to be a part of the Stratford Conservatory. The school allows only eight males as well as four female students to take a course in the art of classical theatre. Contractor was eager to accept. The actress's spot in the next play season was secured and she won the role of Hermia.
